Well.. for a week. And I'm here for it. Sort of.
How rare is it do you hear that a Black man, growing up in the streets of New York City, especially Southside Jamaica, Queens, making it to one of the most well recognized and reputable newspaper of the Big Apple?
While apart of me wants to treat this as a win for PoC, most importantly Black men (keeping in mind that the statistics that was once published stating that Black men of urban descent doesn't make it alive to see 25), I can't help but to feel as though 50 would find someway to sell out and make this a shit show.
I mean lets keep it a billi.
We're talking about the man who ridiculed Floyd Mayweather, for his inability to read. Imagine how many other illiterate Black men, who follow Fifty, who'd find it ironic that their rap idol who all but shat on the world's greatest modern boxer is now the editor of a newspaper they can't read.
One thing is for sure, i hope 50 takes this position seriously.
Like get them to improve on vocabulary and "level of sophistication" in the New York Daily News, which has always had a long reputation of publishing article at a 5th grade level.
Or increase stories of people of color excelling, rather than crime ridden stories.
50 Cent is a very intelligent man, there's no doubt about it. But the facts remain, he can be a bone head and I won't be here for all that if he does do some bone head ish.
What do you think about 50 Cent's new career advancement? Will he screw it up or soar to black excellence?
