"I believe in all things good for the soul and good for the mind.."
And that's why I've dedicated my life to writing, reading and most importantly sharing my truth with others! Which is part of the reason why I created Urban Royals. My name is Kamilah Badiane and I'm an awesome, optimistic, and pretty ambitious woman from New York City! Born and raised in the Bronx, I've always had a taste for good music, good food, good tv shows, and good conversation with amazing people. Currently I'm working on a degree in TV-Video Productions and minoring in Radio and Broadcast Management. Somewhere along the line, this woman will be the biggest thing in American Media (maybe even global)! I'm dreaming colossal here people!!
.. But oh wait, it gets even better!
I've overcame poverty, I'm a survivor of an abusive alcoholic parent, I'm a second generation college student (but I'll be the first to graduate college) and I've been to hell and back battling insecurities, accepting myself, unhealthy relationships, etc. All in all, I've dedicated my life since I was 14 to helping people who are just like me!
I want my carbon footprint to be that I helped the underrepresented thrive. First by teaching them to love their selves, then helping them to be recognized and accepted as equals in our world and society. I believe in order to reach that goal there must be some things we need to strengthen.
I advocate for the improvement of the quality of education in urban publics schools so the next generation can be better equipped with knowledge that will stretch and expand their horizons. Better education insures better leadership skills. Young girls are the next leaders and as a young woman, I believe its my duty to inspire and impact each girl I encounter. And if our women don't have the equal opportunities necessary to expand their horizons, like cis-gendered, heterosexual, white, abled men, then less women can impact and inspire girls in such ways. And our young men need to be able to walk out and excel in the same manner, which means we have to acknowledge that #BlackLivesMatter.
I'm a young woman with good intentions, and I just want to live my dreams out loud! Regardless of what becomes of this blog, what I want people to know about me is that everything that I create, whether its in the form of poetry, writing, music, a video, or photo, it's all to inspire, honor, motivate, and benefit anyone who encounters it!
I put my all into whatever I do so therefore this future media mogul will continue to do such, all while living the urban royal life in New York City.
